Plans have been revealed to build over a 1000 new homes in Woodford under two schemes
Russell LDP plans a 554-home scheme, on 74 acres on Green Belt land south of Chester Road.and David Wilson Homes has launched a public consultation on its 450-home proposal across a 51-acre plot at Upper Swineseye Farm in Woodford to the east of Woodford Garden Village.
The former, The Woodford Garden Neighbourhood could see 395 standard homes, 15 self-build homes, a 72-bed care home, and 72 extra care apartments with half the site being deemed affordable
Plans also include a GP or dental practice, children’s day nursery, retail space, allotments, and two play areas along with a 15-acre ‘nature park’

Gary Lynch, planning director at Russell LDP, said: “We want to thank those who attended our consultation events in Woodford in July. Since then, we’ve taken on board the feedback received and sought to revise our proposals to reflect the needs expressed by the community.
“The updated plans now include provision for healthcare, a day nursery, and a small retail unit that could be suitable for a post office, alongside refinements to the housing layout.”
Lynch continued: “Our proposals directly respond to the acute need across Stockport for specialist elderly care accommodation and general housing, in a comprehensive and sustainable way; and the illustrative masterplan is based on a landscape-led approach, which provides the public with greater access to quality open spaces.”

David Wilson Homes, would see at least least 50% of the proposed two-, three-, and four-bed homes will be affordable and include social rent offers.
