The Great Northern Warehouse has announced the launch of a pop-up shop, in collaboration with homeware brand, Kitsch Republic, taking place on Friday 12th November 10am-6pm and Saturday 13th November 10am-4pm.

Kitsch Republic recently took over the window of 285 Deansgate, in a display celebrating Northern Nostalgia. The colourful arrangement of patterned lampshades lighting up the window created such a fantastic response, the Manchester makers behind the designs are opening a pop-up shop in the store.

Adopting some of Manchester’s iconic designs, which include the famous Peveril of the Peak tiles and the unmistakable Hacienda hazard stripes, Kitsch Republic prints onto fabric made into lampshades and cushions for this a limited-edition range.

Anna Dennerley, Kitsch Republic founder, said, “These designs to me are part of the city’s visual language, they evoke such fantastic memories of growing up in the city, it’s part of a Mancunian generation’s DNA.  We had such an amazing response to our window display that we thought it would be brilliant to open a mini pop-up shop so the locals of the city can visit and shop for themselves.”

Kitsch Republic is an all-woman maker team working in Reddish and started out making products and selling them in and around Manchester’s makers markets.  Now the company has expanded online and is supplying the nation with bright and affordable handmade homewares products.

Speaking of the Kitsch Republic pop-up shop, Mark Schofield, Centre Director of Great Northern said, “We are thrilled to welcome the new pop-up shop to Great Northern for visitors to shop and enjoy.

The window display was greatly received in its short time at the venue and there were many passers-by not only taking pictures of the visual display but also requesting more information, so we’re pleased to bring it to Great Northern for one weekend only.”
