Manchester’s newest Gallery Saul Hay in Castlefield has launched its second exhibition.
TWO, Northern Abstracts, Music for the Eyes beings together exciting abstract work from eight established artists from the North West of England intended to transform the gallery into an explosion of colour and energy.

Featured artists include Paul Brotherton, a painter and lecturer currently based in Warrington. Paul has exhibited internationally in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Italy and the USA. and his work is in collections in the UK, France and Italy. Fusing together an appreciation for crisp graphic elements with emotional freedom, Paul has created a style he calls ‘Abstract Expressionist Design’.
Lisa Denyer who is based at Mirabel Studios, Manchester and is currently on a residency at Galerie Martin Mertens in Berlin. Lisa was shortlisted for the 2016 Greater Manchester Arts Prize. Lisa uses a vibrant palette of colours which she paints onto plywood, board and wood.
Steven Heaton a painter and a director of Cross Street Studios, Standish. His work is inspired by nature and the interaction of the mechanical and the man-made element upon the landscape.
Donal Moloney senior lecturer in Fine art at MMU Manchester School of art. Visitors Choice Winner at John Moores Painting Prize 2016. He makes intricate paintings that contain fragments of images from a wide variety of sources.
James Moss a painter and interdisciplinary artist. Graduate of the Manchester School of Art. James is the Gallery & Exhibitions Organiser at The Portico Library, Manchester and Martin Nash, a member and the administrator of the Rogue Artist Studios in Manchester. His painting, which has become increasingly more abstract, is concerned with exploring … colour, mark making, pattern and that elusive and mysterious quality that makes a good painting.
David Stanley based at Cross Street Studios, Standish. David is an internationally exhibited artist and member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA). David works with layers of paint producing a strong sense of atmosphere within each work while
Jason Thompson from Liverpool was a finalist in the Liverpool Art Prize 2014. Jason enamel paints and layers of varnish on wooden panels.

The Gallery opened in October 2016, born out of a passion for art by husband and wife directors Catherine & Ian Hay.
