Nirvana, Arvo Pärt, and Philip Glass Come Together in One Unmissable Concert: O/Modernt and Evelyn Glennie to Perform at The Bridgewater Hall This September

To launch this season’s International Concert Series, the trailblazing ensemble O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra will be joined by the remarkable Scottish percussionist, Evelyn Glennie, to perform a programme spanning 850 years of music on Monday 22 September 2025 at 7.30pm, at The Bridgewater Hall.
O/Modernt’s motto is “Invent the Past. Revise the Future”, a tribute to John Cage. This inventive concert features a programme that will juxtapose music by the likes of Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass with a reworking of Nirvana’s Lithium and much more, designed to challenge the audience’s perceptions and highlight the interconnectedness of all musical expression.
“There is, in reality, no such thing as ‘old’ or ‘new’ music,” says Artistic Director and violinist Hugo Ticciati, “there is only music that sounds in the present.”
The Bridgewater Hall’s International Concert Series is the venue’s flagship programme, bringing the world’s most prestigious classical musicians to Manchester. Now in its 29th year, the ICS continues to present international orchestras, celebrated recitalists, and renowned choirs.
