A new campaign has launched to raise awareness of homelessness and to encourage people to take part in The Sleepout, the major annual fundraiser for The Booth Centre, launches in Manchester.

Created pro-bono by ad agency Razorfish, the campaign will appear on digital out of home screens owned by MediaCo Outdoor across the City Centre.

Rather like giant iPads, the screens feature touch screen interactivity, built in HD cameras and even facial recognition software. And for one week, from 27 October to 2 November MediaCo is donating time on the screens to show the charity campaign.

The campaign features four local people who have been sleeping rough. The films show them speaking to camera, each telling their story about becoming homeless and how local charity, The Booth Centre, has been there for them.

Passers-by are encouraged to watch the films and to touch the screens to find out more about The Manchester Sleepout, The Booth Centre’s annual fundraiser that sees volunteers spending a night out on 7 November this year at the Manchester Cathedral.

People can sign up to take part in The Sleepout or to make a one-off donation. But above all, the campaign hopes to remind people to have compassion for people experiencing homelessness.

Are you up for a challenge? For one night only we’re sleeping out to highlight some of the hardships that homeless people have to face every single night and to raise vital funds for the Booth Centre.

Date: Friday 7th November 2014 from 8pm
Location: Manchester Cathedral
