Promoted then demoted, distinction now extinction faces us.Bury North MP James Frith has written to the English Football League asking it to grant a further extension past this Friday to avoid the club being thrown out of the League.

Bury have yet to play a game this season as current owner Steve Dale has yet to give the league assurances that the club is financially viable.

As Dale insists that he is trying to sell the club, Frith has written to the league chairman Debbie Jevens outlining his case to suspend the expulsion order which at the moment would see the club thrown out of the football league on Friday.

Frith has said that the league have responded to the letter and ‘Matters will be discussed at a Board meeting tomorrow and we will revert thereafter.”

Frith said the club was part of the town’s “cultural capital and history”, adding: “Football is never just about the kick off or full time whistle.

“It enriches life and living in Bury. All this is set to be destroyed but we can and must resist.”

Mr Frith accused Bury owner Steve Dale of “exploiting the situation” by promising but failing to sell the club, and said he had kept potential buyers waiting for information.
