A 41-year-old motorcyclist from Hyde was killed last night after a collision on Hyde Road.

The accident happened around 8.30, after a Volvo V70 and the Honda motorbike collided.

The driver of the motorbike was taken to hospital but sadly died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Volvo remained at the scene to speak with officers and was treated by paramedics for shock.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are very much with the family at this unimaginably difficult time and we have specially trained officers supporting them.

“Hyde Road was closed at the junction with Saxon Street for over four hours while investigation work was carried out and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision remain ongoing.

“I would ask anyone that witnessed the collision or has any information or dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to please get in touch.”
