Greater Manchester firefighters have worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to tackle the moorland wildfires in the Dovestone and Swineshaw areas of Greater Manchester, with support from partner agencies.
Periods of light rainfall and mist have dampened the moorlands but have not extinguished the fires and this remains a major incident.
“We would like to thank all partner agencies and organisations for their continued efforts, in particular Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Mountain Rescue, who have provided incredible support to our crews in challenging weather conditions over the past two days.”
Residents should still avoid affected areas, with road closures in place around Dovestone to support emergency service operations, and close your windows and doors if smoke is affecting your home.
