Andy Burnham has said that he’s prepared to call out Donald Trump if it’s “right for Britain”

Interviewed by the BBC’s Laura Keunssberg at No 10 North in Manchester the new Prime Minister declined twice to say he can trust Donald Trump

He said that he only had one “warm” phone call with him. Asked a second time he says “it’s a changing world”

Burnham also declined to commit to spending 3% of GDP on defence

He says there won’t be an “early” election saying “I don’t think people want it” but doesn’t rule out calling one before 2029
