Manchester’s first biggest doner kebab, Great British Doner (GBD), is officially opening its flagship location this Friday 27th June at Barton Arcade, Deansgate.
The new kebab house is the brainchild of Mehmet Nezir Korkut, a Turkish-born entrepreneur and restaurateur, drawing on over 25 years of hospitality experience and former owner of Manchester institution Café Istanbul.
Combining bold British flavours with authentic Turkish street food, GBD brings a fresh take on the UK’s popular takeaway. The menu features mouth-watering doners made with premium British-sourced beef and chicken, alongside vegan and veggie options, signature sauces, and even a frozen chocolate doner.
Mehmet Nezir Korkut, Founder of GBD, said, “Great British Doner is about more than just food. It is about culture, connection, and creating something that celebrates tradition while embracing modern British taste. Our mission is simple: serve great doner with quality, integrity, and bold flavour.”
To mark the opening, the first 100 guests from 5pm on Friday will receive a free doner and one lucky diner will unwrap the Golden Wrap, winning doners for an entire year.
Following its city-centre debut, GBD plans to open two additional sites at Manchester Arndale and Piccadilly later this year, with further nationwide growth in the pipeline
