Independent trade organisation for Greater Manchester’s digital and tech businesses,Manchester Digital, has launched a suite of new initiatives to support the region’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

Playing to some of GM’s core tech specialisms, the organisation will launch fintech, cyber security, SAAS and AI initiatives before the end of the year. A large scale fintech initiative, which sets to support the region’s growing portfolio of fintech businesses, will be the first to launch next month.

This is supported by increased capacity within the Manchester Digital team, having grown from four to seven employees over the last 12 months as it continues to strengthen its offering.

Katie Gallagher, managing director at Manchester Digital, said: “For the past two decades, Manchester Digital has supported progressive digital and technology businesses across the region. During that time, we’ve grown alongside the tech ecosystem, which is now becoming more multi-faceted with obvious specialisms popping up, particularly around fintech and cyber security. We’ve always had deep knowledge and expertise across the sector at a top level and now believe it is the right time to start honing in on the niches.”

Marking a pivotal new era of growth for Manchester Digital, the new initiatives will be supported by the launch of a new website which better reflects its ever-growing and more complex membership base. Designed in collaboration with Huddle Digital, the site sets to cement Manchester Digital’s position as the place for progressive digital and technology businesses, enable it to make more data driven decisions, and provide members with better benefits.

The website focuses heavily on collaboration, following research earlier in the year where the region’s business leaders agreed that collaboration is vital to drive future growth. Core to this will be its improved directory system which allows members to search for businesses they want to work with and foster partnerships directly though the website.

Gallagher added: “As we enter our next phase of growth, we wanted to create a website that both cemented our position as the go-to organisation for progressive digital and technology businesses across Greater Manchester and streamlined the online experience for our members. The new site features a cleaner design and increased functionality, meaning that members can upload their news and events, connect with other members for collaboration, and share jobs easily.”

Manchester Digital represents over 500 members, with three core aims: connecting the sector, representing the sector, and fostering talent and skills.

“Greater Manchester’s tech sector is thriving; you only need to look at investment into the region and the sheer volume of companies opening up offices here – from innovative start-ups to large corporates.  Manchester Digital’s own journey reflects the evolution of the sector and we’ll continue to be agile and evolve in line with it,” Gallagher concluded.
