A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing offences contrary to section 41b of the terrorism act 2000.

The arrest followed a raid by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) at two addresses on Durley Avenue  this morning.

He remains in custody for questioning.

Officers said that at this time there is no intelligence or evidence to suggest that there is any risk to the local community.

This is linked to another warrant that was executed by CTPNW at an address on Durley Avenue on 9th March this year.

On that occasion a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing offences contrary to section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and sections 1 and 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

He was later released under investigation.
