Yes providing the clouds clear Manchester could be for a celestial delight tonight.

It’s a full moon, referred to as a “snow moon,” it’s name just refers to the fact that it’s the first full moon of February, the name derives from the fact that it often snows in February.

But there is more, a lunar eclipse will also be taking place and it will be visible across Greater Manchester.

The moon will start to grow a little darker from 22:34 until 02:53 when Earth casts a shadow, the penumbra, on the Moon.

The moon will be completely shaded, making the change easier to see, although it won’t stand out as much as a typical lunar eclipse when the moon passes deep into the heart of Earth’s shadow, called the umbra, and turns a ruddy color.

And that’s not all because there is also a comet on the way.Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova will be visible in the predawn hours by skywatchers using binoculars or small telescopes between Thursday and Sunday, in the constellation Hercules in the eastern sky. The comet’s closest approach will come on Saturday, when the object will pass just 7.4 million miles (12 million kilometers) from Earth.

So keep your eyes peeled as you look up in the sky this weekend
