Fantastic news – my mojo is back! Thank goodness for that and, as it is Thursday, it will be here for the weekend which is fabulous timing.

I was feeling quite chirpy when I got up and one of the first things I heard on the news was that there was going to be free AA for NHS staff. Brilliant, I thought, I bet that they are all drinking more than usual under the circumstances but then realised it was THE AA as in cover for when they have broken down going to work. DOH!! Still a brilliant idea though and just shows how the nation is all coming together.

My husband weighs himself more than I do and he will not accept that body weight can fluctuate so much from day to day so it is not a good idea to weigh yourself too often unless you are prepared for the peaks and troughs.

He announced that the scales were weighing very light this morning and, in my head, I thought it would be a good idea to bring my weighing day in by 24 hours to take full advantage. Thinking that it was hilarious, he suggested this as a joke whilst I was hopping on in secret – I’ve lost a pound! Yes, what a result!! It’s not “quite back of the net” territory but certainly going in the right direction again.

You know the way butter is sometimes good for us and sometimes bad for us depending on what the scientists are telling us from one day to the next? Well, I think that masks are going to be in that category from now on and it’s really confusing. A long time ago, I read a quote that said, “don’t confuse science with scientists”.

To this day, I am not exactly sure what this means but I think that it is about making sure we remember some scientists want to make a name for themselves and so we should always trust in the science and not necessarily the people reporting it. I’m really not sure how we can do one without the other but, up until a few days’ ago, wearing masks was seen as a bad idea and didn’t give us any more protection. But now they, whoever they are, are saying wearing masks or even makeshift masks is a good idea. Who knows but in the the meantime, what do we do?

On a similar note, I managed to tune in to BBC’s Question Time and it was strange to see the social distancing on stage. There was also an interesting discussion on whether, if you have symptoms of Covid–19, you should stay isolated for 7 or 14 days’. It was great to see Matt Hancock up and about again, albeit he did look a bit ill, but Donna Kinnair, the Chief Executive of the Royal College of Nursing, was really not very comfortable as he had only stuck to the 7 day rule instead of 14 like the rest of the world apparently seems to be implementing. Again, who knows, but surely we should all be airing on the side of caution in such uncertain times?

Following on from yesterday, it looks like I am not the only one to be questioning whether we are allowed to buy compost and bedding plants if they are in the shops. According to the press, these are not classed as essential items and therefore should stay on the shelves. It was also commented that Boots are having to stop people from browsing and buying non-chemist related products like mascara. Surely, if this is causing so much of an issue, they can pack things away or cordon off parts of the shops to save the purgatory situation of not being able to purchase all the lovely things you can see? That is not rocket science!

My hairdresser called me today to see how I was doing and just to say hello, I thought that this was a fantastic touch and fabulous customer service. I made a deal with him not to colour my hair until their shop was open again so heaven knows what it will look like by this time. I am going to do my best to keep it as a trendy balayage but I think that everybody will be able to see through this cunning plan and see my true colour for what it really is.

The email that I have been dreading arrived today with the sad news my big holiday to the beautiful island of St Lucia has to be postponed. We were supposed to be going in June but will have to rebook for next year. It will be really important to have stuff to look forward to but 2020 looks like a real write-off at the moment.

I know there are people dying from Covid-19 and other things which might make this seem trite but these are the things we work hard for and look forward to throughout the year. Hopefully all this lockdown will be worth it and we can get back to living our best lives again very soon. To cheer myself up, I have arranged for a games night/quiz one night next week and dinner with fizz with a couple of my girly friends. It won’t quite be the same but beggars can’t be choosers.

Is it just me or is everybody beginning to do far more social media than ever? I am finding it difficult to keep up to speed with everything but doing my best!

Although I am on a shopping ban for the foreseeable future – partly to save money but mainly to minimise the risk of C-19 transmission in the distribution chain – my phone has just come out of contract and it is time to get a new one. I am not one of these people that gets giddy at the thought of this.

On the contrary, it fills me with horror as I have absolutely no chance of remembering all of the passwords to get things set up again. With all of this time on my hands, I decided now was as good a time as any but I’m a bit worried as “the man” usually sets it all up for me whilst I pop off and have a coffee. Apparently, according to the quite pushy salesman, it’s easy as the cloud does it all for you but I’m not falling for any of that “plug & play” nonsense! I’ll keep you posted but I am expecting tears, traumas and tantrums galore.

I found out today that my lovely parents are now reading my blog – it puts a slightly different spin on it but I’m still going to be as honest as I have been so far. A special message for them – you are both over 70 so stay inside and be good!

My List: A few more chapters of my book & thankful I am still on track for finishing it at the weekend; and more VEEP (in this episode, POTUS is in bed ill so some of the scenes are a little too close to home – I wonder if BoJo swears as much?!). I’m conscious my list was largely the same as yesterday – ooopsy! – but with all this writing, cooking & FaceTiming, there’s not much time left!

My lowlight: Nobody in our road clapped for carers at 8pm – miserable sods.

My highlight: Cooking a very healthy fish pie for tea.

My Anxiety levels: Low and finding working from home better than being in the office and loving no travelling around – I’m certainly not missing the 7:08 to Euston! I think I could quite get used to this routine.

Day 11 is Friday – YAY!!!!
