Quays Culture is looking for the people of Greater Manchester to be part of its annual digital light festival, Lightwaves 2017, at Salford Quays: Home of MediaCityUK this December 8th to 17th.

Collaborating with lighting legends of the North, Blackpool Illuminations, a suspended structure will light up Salford Quays, portraying 100 faces and places of Greater Manchester. Quays Culture is calling on people from each of the county’s boroughs, including Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan to capture 10 images from each of the 10 boroughs, of either a face or a place.

Portraits can include anyone from family and friends, young and old, to shop owners and notable figures, from the famed to the unknown. And ‘places’ could capture anything from a special street, architecture, schools, iconic building, and landmark attraction in the area. These stills will be illuminated to create a visual story of each borough, through its inhabitants and locations.

The people of Greater Manchester can enter up to three digital images each (not prints) images should be of a good quality (300 Dpi minimum), and the person submitting the image/s should ensure they have permission from the person in the portrait to use their image*.

Images should be sent direct to art@quaysculture.com Deadline date for submissions is 06th November 2017, and a panel from Quays Culture will select the images for public show.  Only successful applicants will be notified as we anticipate a high number of entries.

Quays Culture will be showcasing its exhibition, in partnership with Blackpool Illuminations, from Friday 8 December until Sunday 17 December.

Featuring in Lightwaves 2017, the UK’s biggest digital light festival, 100 Faces & Places of Greater Manchester will run alongside an impressive programme of digital light art, from local, national, and international artists, taking over public spaces for an unforgettable 10 days. #Lightwaves2017
