HOME announce the latest addition to its spring summer 2022 theatre season, the highly anticipated theatrical debut of Sophie Anderson’s The House with Chicken Legs.

Running between 29 March – 23 April 2022, the show is the latest creation of theatre company Les Enfants Terribles, the team behind the Olivier-nominated ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground’ and hailed by The Guardian as ‘a talented company with a very sure sense of its own distinctive storytelling style’.

Lead character Marinka dreams of a normal life, where she can stay somewhere long enough to make friends; but there’s one problem – her house has chicken legs and moves on without warning. For her grandmother is Baba Yaga who guides spirits from this world to the next. Marinka longs to change her destiny and break free from her grandmother’s footsteps, but her house has other ideas…

Produced and created in Les Enfants Terribles unique and profoundly thought-provoking style, the story is told through a blend of live music, striking puppetry, and a sprinkle of magic to immerse you in this Yaga world of spirits and secrets.

Centered around themes such as grief, growing up and fitting in, the production is certain to strike a chord with both young theatre goers aged 9+ and adults alike.

The House with Chicken Legs marks Les Enfants Terribles’ first new stage production in 10 years, as well as 20 years since the theatre company was first founded by Oliver Lansley. Over the course of their 20 year history, the company has grown from strength to strength, producing award-winning shows including ‘The Trench’ and ‘The Terrible Infants’, as well as ground-breaking immersive productions such as ‘United Queendom‘, ‘Inside Pussy Riot ‘ and the smash hit ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground‘

This brand-new adaptation has been brought to life in collaboration with prominent industry creatives such as Alexander Wolfe who has, to date, released four solo albums and worked extensively in theatre and film. The team also includes Costume & Puppetry Designer Samuel Wyer, well-known for his unique aesthetic and most recently Costume & Puppetry Designer for Ocean at the end of the Lane with the National Theatre, which is currently playing at the Duke of York Theatre in London. Similarly, Nina Dunn, award-winning Video Designer whose recent work includes critically acclaimed The Shark is Broken in London’s West End, will be bringing her expertise to this upcoming production. Joining them will be industry renowned Set Designer Jasmine Swan (Lava, Bush Theatre) and lighting design from the brilliant Jane Lalljee (Giraffes Can’t Dance, Leicester Curve).
