Three candidates remain now in the Tory leadership race after Kemi Badenoch was eliminated in fourth round

Rishi Sunak topped the fourth MPs’ poll on 118 votes, adding three from his tally yesterday, while Penny Mordaunt came second adding 10 supporters to reach 92. Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary, placed third with 86 votes adding 15 to her total from yesterday

Badenoch tweeted:

“I’m grateful to my colleagues and the party members who have supported me. This campaign began less than two weeks ago. What we’ve achieved demonstrates the level of support for our vision of change for our country and for the Conservative Party.”

Truss and Penny Mordaunt will mount a desperate push to win backers of Kemi Badenoch over the next 24 hours in an attempt to secure a place in the final two against Rishi Sunak.

A YouGov poll of members today found that Sunak would lose heavily to Mordaunt or Truss in the final two.
