Kellogg’s Manchester Factory featured in an hour-long Channel 5 documentary unveiling the secrets behind the cereal giant’s iconic products.

The documentary ‘Secrets of the Kellogg’s Factory’ aired over the weekend.

The show features Kellogg’s characters responsible for making one million packs of Corn Flakes, Coco Pops, Rice Krispies and Crunchy Nut every day.

Viewers discovered the process of drying, flaking, milling and toasting that produces Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, which are then developed into Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut and Frosties before being shipped out to retailers.

More than 400 people are employed at the factory, a local landmark that was built in 1938 near Trafford, Greater Manchester.

To produce billions of pounds worth of cereal every year, the factories machinery runs for 24 hours a day, producing up to 34 million kilograms of Corn Flakes annually.

Kellogg’s Manchester factory – the largest cereal factory in Europe – has been producing family favourite food for over 80 years.

The documentary was followed by ‘From Coco Pops to Weetabix: Britain’s Favourite Cereal’ a two-hour programme which concluded that Crunchy Nut is Britain’s favourite cereal.

Plant director, Paul Wrigley who was featured in the documentary said “Our team here in the Manchester Factory really enjoyed making the Channel 5 programme. I was extremely proud of everyone who bravely presented to the camera, totally unscripted and the fantastic result that was shown last night.

We’ve had so many messages from family, friends plus members of the public saying how much they enjoyed the programme. You can really see the care and passion that we put into making our much-loved products.”
