Will you join the Forget Me Not Appeal to help the patients and family members who need the support of St Ann’s Hospice?

The symbol of St Ann’s Hospice is the forget me not flower. These flowers come back every year  and as a symbol of remembrance to  those people that have been supported by St Ann’s Hospice  but who are not forgotten.

Many of us have lost people we love. St Ann’s Forget Me Not Appeal is a beautiful way to celebrate their lives – whether they have been cared for at the hospice or not.

Sam Williams is joining this year’s Forget Me Not Appeal in memory of her mum, Debbie. Sam says: “Mum was referred to the hospice for symptom control in 2020. Due to the pandemic there were restrictions in place, but the hospice staff did everything to make sure that Mum was supported. The care she received at the hospice was exceptional.

“It is important that people continue to support St Ann’s so that their services can continue. I don’t know what we would have done without their support, our story could have been very different. Mum was a champion of the hospice and valued the time she spent there.”

You can dedicate a flower in memory of a loved one in the online Memory Meadow and share your photos and memories with family and friends.

St Ann’s are also holding Forget Me Not services that you can attend at their Heald Green and Little Hulton hospices. The Forget Me Not services at both hospices are open to everyone as an opportunity for reflection and celebration of the lives of loved ones. They will take place on Saturday 8th June in the beautiful gardens of St Ann’s.

This year the services will be led by the In-Memory and Legacy Fundraiser, Heather Bennett and supported by the Patient and Family Support Team. Guests are invited to join those at St Ann’s for some refreshments after the service.  This year as well as taking place outdoors, there will be songs sung by a choir which readings, and a moment of reflection where you can place a decoration on the tree in memory of your loved one.

If you would like to attend either of these special events, please indicate this when you make a dedication on the Memory Meadow, or call  on 0161 498 3631.

However you choose to join the Forget Me Not Appeal, you will be helping to raise vital funds and awareness for St Ann’s Hospice.

Heather Bennett, In-Memory and Legacy Fundraiser, says: “Our Forget Me Not services are a beautiful opportunity for us all to come together to remember our loved ones.  It is always so touching to see how many people come to be with us at these services and to hear about loved ones who may no longer be physically with us but are clearly still so very much part of our lives.

“It is always very moving and humbling to know that in remembering loved ones, people choose to support our hospice and that we are part of the memories of those loved ones.  That is very special.  We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the services again this year.”
