Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson deliberately misled Parliament over whether COVID lockdown rules were broken in 10 Downing Street

The report out this morning from the Parliamentary Privileges committee concludes that Boris Johnson deliberately misled Commons over Partygate scandal & was in contempt of Parliament.

If he had not resigned it would have recommended a 90-day sanction but as he has it it has recommended that he should not be granted an ex-MPs’ pass.

The committee also found that Johnson breached confidence,Inpunged the committee and so undermined democratic process of House and was complicit in campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the committee.

The committee said that his denials ‘were so disingenuous that they were deliberate attempts to mislead the Committee’

The Lib Dems have reacted to the reports findings saying that

“Rishi Sunak must cut off Johnson’s ex-Prime Minister allowance to stop him milking the public purse for his own personal gain. Anything less would be an insult to bereaved families who suffered while Boris Johnson lied and partied.”
