Vincent Kompany’s newly promoted Burnley will host his former manager on the opening day of the football season

Kompany played for Pep Guardiola during his time as Man City captain and won four Premier League titles with the club.

The game is scheduled for Friday evening, 11 August and has been selected for Sky Sports coverage at 20:00

Manchester meanwhile will host Wolves on the Monday night of the opening weekend fixtures

City’s first home game will be against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United on 19 August.

A week later, they will face another promoted side, Sheffield United, at Bramall Lane.

The first Manchester derby of the campaign will be at Old Trafford on the final weekend of October with the return fixture in March
