A man who threatened a shopworker at knifepoint while wearing a motorcycle helmet has been jailed.
Simon Brooks aged 32 , of Toronto Street, Bolton, was last week sentenced to four years in prison at Bolton Crown Court, after previously pleading guilty to robbery.
The court heard how on 26 November, Brooks entered a store on Bury Road in the Breightmet area of Bolton.
He was wearing a motorcycle helmet, with tights additionally worn on his head.
Brooks then produced a knife, before pointing it at the worker and shouting at him to open the till. When the worker initially refused to, Brooks lunged forward and waved the knife.
He then took a sum of money from the till before fleeing the scene.
Despite his attempts at concealing his face, he was soon identified by officers within the North Bolton Neighbourhood team, who subsequently secured an arrest within two hours of the offence being committed.
During a search of his property, the clothing worn during the robbery was recovered. Separately, Brooks was seen on CCTV disposing of the tights he wore on his head, while the discarded knife was also recovered following enquiries by officers.
Brooks was later interviewed and charged with the robbery offences.
In addition to the sentence, he must pay a surcharge of £228.
