A documentary to be broadcast tonight on ITV will shed more doubt on the conviction of the nurse Lucy Letby

Letby, 35, is serving 15 whole life orders after she was found guilty of murdering seven babies and trying to kill six others at the Countess of Chester Hospital after being convicted at Manchester Crown Court in 2023

She also lost two attempts last year to challenge her convictions at the Court of Appeal and The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) is reviewing an application by Letby’s legal team.

In the documentary Lucy Letby: Beyond Reasonable Doubt? evidence that had been submitted to the CCRC refutes the case that the nurse deliberately killed two of the infants with insulin claiming that the levels in the infants could have been produced by natural causes

The programme also hears from a friend of Letby who casts doubt on the evidence that Letby’s hand written notes claiming to have killed the babies was genuine

The friend, also a former colleague stands by Lucy Letby and refused in the documentary to believe the accusations against her
