This September, Home is presenting Under the Mink, a mini-film season showcasing four film noirs from the heydey of Columbia Pictures.
Encompassing the crime thrillers of the 1940s and 50s, film noir is characterised by a unified aesthetic of cockeyed shadows and heavy contrast, nocturnal streets and urban alienation, hardboiled voiceover and tough poeticism.
Featuring The Big Heat, Murder By Contract, In a Lonely Place and Dead Reckoning, all of the films curated in this stylish season bring together a rich shared palette of stars – from Humphrey Bogart to Gloria Grahame, each examining doomed romance.
