Hindley Town Centre is now subject to a dispersal order until 3pm on Monday 29 September 2025 after numerous reports relating to anti-social behaviour (ASB) being caused by youths.
Police have recorded eight different incidents ranging from youths throwing several items at cars in the area, along with criminal damage and alcohol-related disturbances.
A Section 35 dispersal order has now been implemented by officers, which allows police to exclude a person or people from an area for up to 48 hours through a written notice.
This is aimed at preventing and reducing the risk of any anti-social behaviour or disorder, and, in this case, is focused around the areas shown in the map (pictured).
Inspector Adam James from our Wigan district said: “We’ve seen a concerning rise in anti-social behaviour in Hindley Town Centre and Wigan as a whole over the past few days, with incidents involving criminal damage and alcohol-related disturbances.
“This dispersal order is a proactive measure to help us prevent any further ASB incidents in the area as well as reassure the community. Officers will be patrolling the area to enforce the order and engage with the general public.”
