Hulme Community Garden Centre (HCGC) in Manchester is running an exciting new Community Share Offer in July through Crowdfunder, allowing the public the chance to invest in and grow the positive social impact of the community garden.

Funds will be used to improve facilities at the centre which will include; a functional office space, improved café area, a bigger indoor shop, bicycle parking, new flushing, accessible toilets with baby changing facilities and a warm hub for HCGC volunteers.

The Share Offer has already raised over 30% of the initial £130,000 target with 39 investors, including members of the public, local companies and The Community Shares Booster Fund which is matching every pound of equity invested up to £100,000.

Investor and long-time supporter Marjory said:  “I’ve been impressed by the Garden Centre and the way it has reached out to all sections of the community. The Garden Explorer sessions for young children are excellent and I love watching the volunteers working alongside and supporting young disabled people. Keep up the fantastic work’ to first time visitors like Andrew, ‘We visited for the first time today and absolutely loved it! We love that you’ve been serving this community for 20 years and have a big vision to enable that to grow and continue for many more years to come.

Rachel Summerscales, Centre Manager said: “This is an environmentally friendly project, using repurposed shipping containers to create an inspiring and collaborative space for friends, families and groups. We are keeping costs down, and social impact up, by maximising the use of willing volunteers for the design, planning and building assistance”.
