Stockport’s Merseyway has re-launched its popular Giving Tree today in an urgent appeal to help welcome over 30 Ukrainian families to Stockport.

In collaboration with the Stockport Ukrainian Club, Stockport shoppers will be able to donate gift vouchers from local businesses to help provide Ukrainian refugees with the necessities they need as they settle into life in the town.

Located in the undercover mall outside Specsavers, visitors will be able to select a blue or yellow gift tag from a giant, white tree. Each tag will provide the name of a store where gift vouchers are available for purchase.

The Giving Tree will be open until Friday 6th May 2022, and all participants can drop their gift voucher at the secure post box located in the same location, or the Merseyway management suite.

Centre Manager, Victoria Nichol said: “Our Giving Tree has provided thousands of gifts to local people in previous years, and we’re confident our shoppers will be just as supportive with this campaign, helping us welcome Ukrainian families joining our local community and providing them with the essentials they need. All donations will be greatly welcomed and appreciated, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support”.
