In the City Centre at 10:30am on Sunday 9th November , a procession of veterans, military personnel, and cadets – led by the Greater Manchester Police Band – will begin their march from John Dalton Street to the Cenotaph in St Peter’s Square.
Shortly after, at 10:45am, the Civic procession will set off from Mount Street, accompanied by the Scots Guards Association Pipe Band, also making its way to the Cenotaph.
Upon arrival, civic dignitaries, members of the armed forces past and present, service organisations, faith leaders, emergency services, and other uniformed groups will gather alongside members of the public to pay their respects.
The commemorative service will begin at 11am, marked by the firing of a maroon to signal the start of the two-minute silence. A second maroon will sound to conclude the silence.
Across the city, numerous community-led Remembrance activities will also take place in cemeteries, Parks, Peace Gardens, and at War Memorials. All of these back up the 3-year partnership with Royal British Legion (RBL), which has also included installing lamppost on poppies in key areas in Manchester.
Across Bury Events have been planned for Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom, Tottington, Unsworth, Walshaw, and Whitefield, while Armistice Day includes a short ceremony in Gallipoli Garden, outside the Fusilier Museum.
This year, there will be an additional event for local people to come together – Bury Remembers, an evening of music and spoken word.
It takes place on Tuesday 4 November at Bury Parish Church, from 7pm to 8.15pm (doors open at 6.30pm). There will be performances from Bury Fire Choir, Bury Music Service, Bury Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums, and input from Bury Youth Service.
In Rochdale Representatives from the Navy, Army and Royal Air Force will join veterans and civic dignitaries for parades in Rochdale, Castleton, Heywood, Littleborough, Middleton, Milnrow, Norden, and Wardle.
In Wigan there are two large parades in the twom and in Leigh with smaller commemorations in Abram,Aspull,Atherton,Golborne,Hindley,Ince,Lowton,Platt Bridge,Shevington,Standish and Tyldesley
Events will be held in towns and villages across Trafford, including parades in Sale, Stretford, Urmston and Hale, and services in Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale Barns and Partington.
Each ceremony will include the traditional two-minute silence, wreath-laying, and prayers of remembrance to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Jane Brophy, will attend the Civic Remembrance Service in Hale.
The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Kerry Waters, will lead the borough in paying respects at the Civic Act of Remembrance outside Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, Wellington Road South, Stockport, SK3 8AB.
At precisely 11am, there will be a 2-minute silence, beginning with the Last Post and ending with the Reveille. Following prayers, hymns and reflections, wreaths will be laid on the steps of the War Memorial.
The Art Gallery will be open from 9.30am on Sunday 9 November for people to pay their respects.
Bolton’s popular Concert of Remembrance will return as part of a wide programme of events to mark the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces.
The much-loved event will take place on Thursday, November 6 from 7pm at the Albert Halls.
This year’s concert will feature world-renowned organist and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Jean Martyn, wartime vocalist Jo Lancaster, Paul Cohen Productions, and the Phoenix Knights of Harmony male voice choir.
The second half of the evening will include a moving act of remembrance led by Reverend Lane, with performances by the Lancashire Artillery (V) Military Band and the Pipes and Drums of the 103rd Regiment.

All proceeds from the event go to support Bolton’s Cadet Forces.
Later in the week, a Remembrance Sunday Service and march past will take place on November 9 in Victoria Square, beginning at 10:56am.
The 216 Royal Artillery will be in attendance and providing live gunfire to mark the beginning and end of the two-minute silence at 11am.
On Armistice Day, Tuesday November 11 at 11am, the Vicar of Bolton, the Reverend Hannah Lane, will lead a short service of prayer from the steps of the Town Hall.
