A Rochdale-based company is set to record a £7 million turnover this year, 9 years after being set up on a kitchen table in Rochdale.
SourceBuild was founded at home by Rob Elliott and his partner Sarah Cork in 2008, supplying building materials to the construction industry. Selling products to trade customers online and by phone proved a big success, and boosted by a rise in their customer base Rob realised the company was rapidly outgrowing its modest surroundings. He took the plunge and moved the business to an office at Globe House in 2011, appointing new members of staff in the process. Globe House is our purpose built hub for businesses on Moss Bridge Road.

Group Operations Manager Liam Grady said the move was a big help:

”The company had outgrown Rob’s home, so it was definitely time for a move. The managed workspace here at Globe House was perfect and instantly gave the business a more professional look, providing us with the professional services that a growing business needs.”

Further expansion followed, with the company creating another five different divisions – Bespokebuild supplying specialised products online, EnviroSystems for flood defence solutions, Globepark Solutions for exhibition and shop fit outs and Globepark Utilities, supplying commercial premises with utilitiy services. The very latest addition to the group is a car body shop – Rochdale Vehicle Repairs.

By 2014 they employed 7 staff, but the last two years have seen that double to 14 and after another bumper year they’re recruiting again. The company have expanded within Globe House, now occupying over 1,200 square feet on the ground floor.

“The transport links here are great, particularly with Metrolink and the M62 being so close. Our staff really like working at Globe House, the facilities are superb and it’s helped us to create that all important first impression when meeting customers.”

Liam added.

With further growth planned, the company forecast a record £7 million turnover this year and are moving further into the energy market, providing amusement arcades with an energy saving deal in conjunction with BACTA, the gaming industry trade association. This new project, together with the growing flood defence market is expected to help the company meet further ambitious expansion targets over the next 5 years, said Liam:

“We’ve got hard work ahead of us but we’re really excited about how far we’ve come. The energy-saving and flood defence markets have fuelled growth and we’ve the resources in place to drive forward our ambitious development plans. Globe House has proved to be a good move for the company and a great base … we’re proud to be from Rochdale.”
This autumn the company will be continuing to fly the flag for the town when they take part in Flood Expo at Excel in London.
