In a fractious exchange during Prime Minister’s Question Time Keir Starmer accused Nigel Farage of ‘exploiting’ the death of Henry Nowak
He said that his comments and call for public rage are ‘unforgiveable’
Nigel Farage told the House in a question to the Prime Minister that ‘we are living under two-tier policing’ in the wake of Henry Nowak’s murder
He said the instructions are clear you should ‘treat different ethnic groups in different ways and highlighted the ‘anger that you saw spilling out in Southampton last night’ and said that it is ‘in danger of getting considerably worse’
Rival MPs around him shoued at him to condemn the violence in Southampton last night which saw several arrests during a protest over the police response
Starmer responded by saying: ‘I don’t believe there is two-tier policing in this country. I am really shocked that he pretends respect for Henry’s family and then acts in this way. They are a grieving family.
‘The grieving family have asked us not to respond in the way… they make a simple pledge to us as human beings to please not exploit that.
‘His response’ he added ‘has been to appeal for rage. Rage. That’s his response to a father who has lost his son and asked this not to happen. To do it when the family are expressly saying please don’t is unforgiveable. It shows exactly who he is’
Earlier Liberal Democrats Leader Ed Davey urges Prime Minister Keir Starmer to address the emergency of knife crime in Britain.
The victims and families of knife crime deserve a politics where we come together to solve these problems, and not use them as a political football.’
