A family have paid tribute to their “loving son and loyal brother” who died following a crash in Stalybridge on Sunday night.
32-year-old Philip Ogden was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of a road traffic collision on the junction of Bayley Street and Bridge Street, Stalybridge.
He was a passenger in a Ford Focus had driven through a give way section of the road on the industrial estate on Bayley Street, before colliding with an Audi A3.
It is believed that there were three other passengers in the Ford Focus who fled the scene.
Paying tribute to Philip, his family said: “Philip was a loving son, a loyal brother and caring uncle and a proud and attentive dad to his four week old son with his partner.
“He was the middle sibling and was very popular and well-liked by everyone who knew him. He was always there for anyone who needed him, a true definition of a friend.
“His laid back and strong minded character and sense of humour will be well remembered.
“This news has devastated our lives and as a family we are struggling to come to terms with the news that Philip won’t ever walk through the door again. He won’t see his baby boy grow up.”
PC Darren White, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“This is a very tragic incident and our thoughts are very much with Philip’s family and friends at this sad time. We would urge the occupants of the vehicle who left the scene to get in touch with us as part of our investigation.
“We would also urge anyone who may have information that can help us identify these people to get in touch.”
