Everyone and his dog should be at Tatton’s annual dog show!
The `must go to’ canine event of the year takes place at Home Farm, Tatton Park on Sunday August 9th.
There are already signs of training for the big day as past champions eager to regain their tile and new hopefuls looking to take home their first trophy start limbering up.
Amongst the 10 categories up for contention are the dog with the saddest eyes and dog with the waggiest tail.
There are bound to be firm favourites in the line up of 10 novelty classes including best veteran and best rescue.
All classes are open for any dog and whilst it’s all about the taking part, you may well find your canine friend has just what it takes to take a podium place! It’s the perfect opportunity for dogs (and owners) to really strut their stuff
Everyone’s favourite class is `Best Young Handler, for all those budding Ashleigh and Pudseys.
Farm manager Jayne Chapman said ‘’ The fun dog show is the farm’s favourite event of the year. It’s great to see so many people having fun with their dogs. There is a class for everyone from scruffiest, to best rescue and we all love best child handler – seeing the bond between the children and their dogs is very special. We also have lots of fun in the agility class. Try it if you’re fit enough!.”
Special rosettes are awarded for first to sixth places in each class, so few doggies go home empty pawed
The most competitive participants are already clearing space in their kennels for the gleaming ‘Harry Smith Memorial Trophy’ for show champion.
One of the hardest classes to judge and guaranteed to bring out the softest of puppy dog eyes is ‘dog the judges would most like to take home’. This gets increasingly difficult to decide as the numbers of entries increase each year.
The Fun Dog Show takes place on Sunday, August 9 from noon. Park Entry charge of £5 per car applies. Only £2 entry charge per class. For more information contact reception on 01625 374400 or the farm on 01625 374431.
