Electric Playbox, Manchester’s leading immersive adventure venue, has announced the launch of a brand-new retro experience, inspired by the iconic 80s game Pacman.

Temple of Coins is the first instalment of a new category called ‘Arcade Battles’, a brand new 30-minute format creating the perfect window for some nostalgic fun with the kids, team-building sessions, couples dates, and everything in between.

To play Temple of Coins, two to six people per Playbox compete and are scored both as a group and individually, going head to head to become the reigning champion. Each level gets harder as you dodge pesky ghost characters, pick up power-ups and collect coins. Dexterity, speed and vigilance are needed for this adventure designed for quick-thinking adrenaline junkies.

Competitors can also return multiple times to beat their score, enhance their skills, and soar up the leader board. A vital asset as the new virtual Arcade concept is set to unleash a nationwide competition very soon.

The Electric Playbox concept has already proved a massive hit, and Temple of Coins builds on the success of the ‘originals’ which includes; Alien Aptitude Test: London ‘84, Alien Aptitude Test: New York ‘87, Rescue the Royals, and Ticket to Mars.

Temple of Coins takes place within the state of the art “Playbox”, a room that uses projection mapping, touch screens and motion-tracking technology to deliver a mind-blowing experience.

“We’re excited to expand our offering with Temple of Coins, the first adventure in our new genre ‘Arcade Battles’, which will complement our established games and attract a new audience who want to explore the unique Electric Playbox experience.”
