Police have carried out a series of early-morning strikes in Bolton and Wigan today, arresting 12 people on suspicion of violent disorder following the fighting that took place after the Bolton Wanderers-Wigan Athletic match on 19 August

Around 50 officers from Greater Manchester Police were involved this morning as more than a dozen addresses were targeted.

The teelve men aged between 16 and 58 are being questioned in custody having been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The investigation into the violence in Westhoughton in August is still ongoing with a further two men arrested in August released on bail pending further enquiries.
