Car driving tests in the region are set to be hit by strike action in the run up to Xmas

A rolling programme of action across the UK will see members of the PCS union starting to take strike action from 13 December.

In the North West the action will run from the 19th-24th December and it is likely the strike action might affect,car driving tests
motorcycle tests and lorry, bus, coach and minibus driving tests

92% of members voted for strike action on a nearly 70% turnout, well above the required legal threshold of 50% in a dispute over pay, pensions, jobs and cuts to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme

Mark Serwotka, PCS general secretary, said the strikes were the “the hardest-hitting industrial action the government will have faced in decades”, adding they will “cause a massive amount of disruption”.adding

“The government, which has spent years turning a blind eye to our pay demands, will no longer be able to ignore us,”
