Rochdale’s MP Simon Danczuk is never one to shirk an opportunity for unconventionalism and this morning’s Sun newspaper sees him unshackling his loathing of his former leader.

He tells readers that Ed was a terrible leader and that his party’s most humiliating defeat in a generation barely seems to have registered.

Reacting to his, as he puts it “popping up on the backbenches”

” the party can’t move forward if the former leader is hanging around like an awkward relative at a funeral.

Taking a swipe at the “woolly Hampstead socialism” the Labour Party must:

“start to build a party fit for the modern age. It needs to be a dynamic movement supporting communities, rewarding hard work and creating opportunity for everyone.”
