The UK hit a new record for the number of jabs administered yesterday.

A total of 647,378 new vaccines were registered across the country on Thursday, excluding Northern Ireland

A total of 22,337,590 people had been given a first jab as of March 18, according to NHS England.

101 people died of Covid in the last 24 hours, while there were 4,802 new cases, down by over 1,800 on the same period last week

This is the equivalent of 50.5% of the population of England aged 18 and over, based on the latest estimates by the Office for National Statistics.

Wales is currently at the equivalent of 47.7% of adults, Scotland 46.6% and Northern Ireland 45.1%.

Meanwhile in England, the percentage of people testing positive for the coronavirus  has continued to decrease in the week ending 13 March 2021.

Estimates from the Office of National Statistics estimate that 160,200 people within the community population in England had COVID-19 (, equating to around 1 in 340 people, in Wales around 1 in 430 people, in Northern Ireland, around 1 in 315 people and in Scotland around 1 in 275 people.
