The curious garden theme for the 2017 Southport Flower Show inspired many colourful and exuberant gardens but none more so than the Christmas themed winter wonderland that appeared on the bank.
The garden, inspired by ELF The Musical, captured the curiosity of visitors at the event who were intrigued by the delights it showcased. The garden radiated a childlike Christmas spirit and wonder that caught the eye of passers-by with many stopping to have their photo taken in the custom built sleigh.
Mcnair Landscapes and S.J.Pey Landscapes were responsible for the creation of the wonderland.
Stephen Pey of S.J.Pey Landscapes said “If you’d told me last year I’d be creating a winter wonderland for the 2017 show I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s been great working with The Lowry to create the ELF inspired garden and to see people enjoying the interactive elements is fantastic.’
The Lowry, Salford will host ELF The Musical’s first Christmas season outside of London from Fri 24 November 2017 until Sun 14 January 2018.
Recent casting revealed that Ben Forster will appear as ‘Buddy’, Liz McClarnon as ‘Jovie’ Louis Emerick as ‘Santa Claus’, Joe McGann as ‘Walter’ and Jessica Martin as ‘Emily Hobbs’. Ben, Joe and Jessica all reprise their roles from the record-breaking 2015 Christmas run in the West End.
Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit starring Will Ferrell, Elf is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Michael Rose in association with the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin present the Theatre Royal Plymouth production of Elf at The Lowry.
