Greater Manchester’s Mayor has taken to X today to rubbish the latest rumours over his bid to become the next Labour leader
“Quite a lot of rubbish in the papers today. Reminds me why I left Westminster in the first place” he wrote mainly in response to the piece in the Sunday Times which claims Burnham wants to return as an MP before May’s local elections and has already identified a seat and is canvassing support for a leadership challenge
The Mail on Sunday also joined in by reporting that one of his supporters telling the paper: “It’s happening. We are on the brink of securing a seat which is likely to come free shortly and where the polls say Andy would beat Reform.”
