The public have responded positively to Andy Burnham’s first major policy agenda.

An opinion poll being published in tomorrow’s Observer found that his popular policy was investing in struggling towns and a policy of UK-wide economic growth.

His least popular though was moving  government departments to Manchester

The former GM Andy Burnham recorded  positive ratings on most of the leadership attributes they tested and was seen as being likeable, Competent and being Strong leader.

Despite this, his ratings have declined on almost every measure since May.

He starts on a net -7, just behind Ed Davey -5 and Kemi Badenoch -6

However he is ahead of Zak Polanski -17, Nigel  Farage -19 and Kier Starmer -43

Nationslly Reform continue  to lead the polls, but the Conservatives have reached their highest vote share since late April 2025

The poll found Reform 26%,Labour 20%, Conservatives 19%,Greens 14% and Liberal Democrats 11%

Meanwhile Tony Blair’s Think Tank has warned Andy Burnham against a Capital Gains Tax (CGT) rise, saying we cannot “tax our way to prosperity”.
