It’s official, Chicken and Mushroom has been voted the most popular savoury pie in the UK, according to new research revealed to celebrate British Pie Week (March 1st – March 7th).
The Chicken and Mushroom took the savoury pie crown, beating out all-time classics like Steak and Ale and Steak and Kidney, according to new data revealed by online takeaway delivery app Foodhub.
Analysts from Foodhub researched orders placed via the app and website to determine the nation’s most popular pie, with Chicken and Mushroom coming out on top accounting for 8% of the overall savoury pie orders.
The quintessentially British classic Steak Pie wasn’t far behind, with Steak and Kidney coming in second (6%), followed by Steak and Ale (5%). It seems the UK are missing those visits to the pub for a hearty crusty classic!
When it comes to desserts, Brits seem to favour a sweet tooth, as the classic Apple Pie is out-selling the savoury selection, with 17% of orders placed on Foodhub’s platform.
Hot on the heels of Apple Pie was the English Banoffee (11%), followed by an over the pond classic, Tennessee Toffee Pie (2%) originating from America.
