The Blues Kitchen on Manchester’s Quay Street has revealed the latest seasonal line-up taking place in its legendary Concert Hall.

James Brown’s house band Fred Wesley and the new JBs will be taking centre stage on Tuesday 23rd May. Working alongside the Funk and Soul pioneer himself, amongst many other infamous names such as Tina Turner and George Clinton, Wesley is rightly known as “one of the most sampled musicians in the world today”.

Kick off the bank holiday with Dele Sosimi and Lokkhi Terra’s Cubafrobeat band on Friday 26th May. Blending transatlantic sounds from Havana, Cuba and Lagos, Nigeria the collaboration sees a celebration of music styles from around the world.

The party continues on Sunday 28th May with DJ and Producer Romare playing global dance influences until late.

Showcasing Manchester’s finest talent, DJs Luke Una, Hidden Spheres and Gina Breeze will be taking over the decks on select dates. Olivia Cutill will be representing the UK’s Jazz scene alongside her quintet on Wednesday 24th May. The up-and-coming trumpet player will be performing Miles Davis’ 1959 album Kind Of Blue.
