A bank holiday heatwave could see warm temperatures and sunshine replace the wind and rain that has dogged August, the Met Office has said.

South easterly winds will draw warm air from Europe towards the UK, bringing rising temperatures along with dry and settled weather for the final public holiday the summer

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a few bright spells, especially so later in the day.  Feeling much warmer than recently with a top temperature of 21c says @chadweather on Twitter while he forecasts a lovely summer’s day with very warm-to-hot sunshine albeit hazy at times with Max 24-26°C for Saturday and Sunday with Bank Holiday Monday much the same but a little cooler
