The drama, the tragedy and the unbreakable spirit of a working class community fighting for its future comes to the stage as the Gary Clarke Company stop off at Contact to complete their award winning tour of COAL on Wed 7 & Thu 8 December, 8pm.

Strong, powerful and emotive, COAL explores the darker underbelly of the mining industry unearthing the true nature and body wrecking demands of a working class industry now almost forgotten.

The show which won the Achievement in Dance prize at the 2016 UK Theatre Awards, has been nominated as Best Independent Company at the 17th Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards. The show’s Lighting Designer Charles Webber has also been recently nominated for one of the prestigious Knight of Illumination Awards.

This prestigious show has already sold out both nights at Contact, where it finishes its autumn tour.

“To know that so many people in Manchester want to experience the power of COAL is fantastic and the company cannot wait to share our story with Contact’s audience.”

Gary Clarke
