Police in Oldham have arrested a man in his 50’s on suspicion of arson following a bin fire at a property at Bardsley Street, Oldham.
A joint investigation was launched alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
The man remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Andy Barrett said: “Due to the proximity of the fire, the occupants of the property suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“We want people to understand that incidents like this are not acceptable in our community. The consequences of this suspected arson attack could have been very different, and I am thankful to the officers who have worked quickly to arrest a suspect.
