‘Provence’, a new all day wine bar and coffee house has opened a venue in Spinningfields, Manchester’s business district. It promises to offer wines for literally every occasion from celebration to commiseration or a simple glass for after work relaxation.

Their non-traditional approach to wine will allow guests to select from a menu categorised by ‘wine occasions’ opposed to a typical region or flavour profile.

Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, date night vibes, a pre-dinner treat, or a post-work pick-me-up with colleagues, the uniquely grouped wine menu aims to match the perfect wine to your mood and current life situation.

Provence will provide a relaxed bookable drinking and grazing space in the heart of the city, split over two floors, it provides an intimate space for fifty guests and an outdoor terrace which can seat a further sixteen

Opening from 8am daily, Provence will offer the city’s morning commuters an ‘available until it’s gone’ daily changing breakfast menu. This will feature porridge and Greek yoghurt pots, sourdough toast with preserves, freshly baked pastries and cakes from Ancoats’ bakery Companio, filled croissants and seasonal sandwiches.

In the evening, Provence will serve a selection of small wine-friendly grazing plates to accompanying the bar’s 80-strong wine menu. Also available will be meat charcuterie boards from local artisans Northern Cure, as well as cheese andvegetarian seasonal sharing platters from Amato Products.

Provence will also cater for flexible private-hire options and groups can book bespoke ‘wine-oke’ (wine and karaoke) sessions with the option to add entertainment, games and tutored tastings hosted by an in-house wine expert.

For the more discerning wine drinker, Provence’s ‘wine jukebox’ enables guests to sample a variety of premium wine options normally available only by the bottle. Top-up wine cards allow guests to sample eight rotational wines by the glass.

Wine not your thing? No worries, Provence will also stock a selection of craft beers from Northern brewers Cloudwater and Northern Monk along with cocktails, spirits and sustainable lo-no options from the likes of Seedlip, Punchy and Karma.

House music and selected hip-hop will soundtrack evenings at Provence, with minimalistic and honest interiors, exposed clay and concrete textured walls, complimented by tan leather seating and intimate warm lighting.

A monthly calendar of events will soon be released featuring everything from wine-oke nights to traditional wine tastings.

Anthony Ellis, founder of Provence said: The team and I have always been big wine lovers but are yet to find a venue that simplifies the experience and doesn’t take itself too seriously!

“We want to change the way people think about wine bars and make it a fun and approachable experience for all to enjoy. Our team are all super friendly, knowledgeable and welcome being asked loads of questions on our menu of fantastic wines. We can’t wait to get the doors open!’
