King’s Lynn cemented their place in the 2018 Premiership Grand Final at the expense of Belle Vue, who fought valiantly but were unable to overcome the first-leg deficit imposed on them.

The Rentruck Aces were optimistic ahead of the second leg in Norfolk, but the odds were against them as they prepared to tackle the Tru Plant Stars without big guns Craig Cook and Dan Bewley.

The home team started off strongly with two 5-1s to kick things off, leaving the visitors with an even bigger mountain to climb, but they dug deep and refused to go down without a fight.

Keeping things close, the Rentruck Aces made sure to keep their hosts honest and guest star Tobiasz Musielak in particular proved to be an inspired choice by team boss Mark Lemon.

He ended the night with 11+1 while Stevie Worrall provided solid back-up with 8 points and Max Fricke 6+2, while guest reserve Coty Garcia contributed a more-than adequate 5 points.

Lemon said: “It was far from the result we wanted, and the disappointment of missing out on a shot at the Premiership title is very painful to take for the team and our loyal supporters.

“Unfortunately we have felt the loss of Dan [Bewley] and more recently Craig [Cook], and you can’t help but feel that, had we had a full team, things could’ve turned out quite differently.

“We met a strong and consistent King’s Lynn side across both legs of this semi-final, but it’s been a big achievement reaching this year’s play-offs considering the injuries sustained by key riders.

“We thank every one of them who has worn the Aces logo for their efforts and for providing some of the best racing in British Speedway every week at the National Speedway Stadium.”

The British Sidecar Speedway Championships make their way to Manxchester next weekend, October 13 for the grand Finale to what has been action-packed season on the shale.

Belle Vue will then celebrate their end of season with The Maugers 2018 on October 20, where will recognise the excellence of both the Rentruck Aces and Cool Running Colts this season.
