new-look Peterborough make their way to Manchester on June 13 for what could be their final Premiership showdown this season with the Rentruck Aces at the National Speedway Stadium.
The two sides have met frequently in the early stages of the 2019 season in both Premiership and Supporters Cup competition, with each currently established in the league top four.
But the Panthers have undergone a couple of changes since our last encounter, with both Ben Barker and Lasse Bjerre making way for Josh Bates and seven-time British Champion Scott Nicholls.
They sit third in the table while the Rentruck Aces maintain their lofty perch at the top of the pecking order, a place they’d like to stay by triumphing over the EOES outfit in Manchester.
Club No.4 Steve Worrall said: “We worked too hard against Ipswich to surrender the win, especially at home. We couldn’t let those league points pass us by, so we had to do everything to secure them.
“Being top of the league does put a target on your back, but I wouldn’t say that adds any pressure to us. If anything, it pushes us to keep bettering ourselves so that we can stay top.
“That’s as true of Thursday’s meeting as it’s ever been. Peterborough have strengthened up, so we expect them to bring a tougher challenge. But, as we always say, we’re not focused on them.
“We need to keep to our own game plan and stick to our own goals. It’s a competitive league and there’s not a lot separating the teams right now, so we must start and finish in a strong manner.”
The Rentruck Aces’ take on Peterborough this Thursday, June 13 in Manchester, tapes up at 7:30pm.
Tickets are available at the stadium box office on race night, or in advance at www.bellevue-speedway.com.
