Left-arm fast bowler Ollie Sutton has signed his first full-time professional contract with Lancashire Cricket ahead of the 2025 season.
24-year-old Sutton, from Sefton, signed a short-term deal with the Club last summer for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup before suffering a side injury on debut which ruled him out for the rest of the summer.
Sutton, who previously represented Lancashire at county age-group level, returned to the Club last summer – playing in four matches for the Second XI and impressing during First Team training sessions to earn a short-term deal for the One-Day Cup.
On his List A debut against Kent at Blackpool CC, Sutton claimed a wicket with his first legal ball in professional cricket – dismissing Ekansh Singh – before suffering a side injury just two deliveries later.
Sutton – who plays club cricket for his hometown Formby CC – has since undertaken a rehabilitation programme with Lancashire’s medical team and will join up with the First Team squad for pre-season training which starts in November.
Speaking after signing his contract, Ollie Sutton said: “It is a proud day for me and for my family to sign my first full-time professional contract with Lancashire Cricket.
“It has been a long road to reach this point, including lots of Second XI cricket at various counties across the country and working hard on my game at Formby CC, but it is great to finally be back with Lancashire after spending time in the age-group system as a junior.
“To get injured on my professional debut last summer was a blow but I am grateful to the Club for their support throughout that time and now that I am back to full fitness, I am looking forward to a full pre-season and hopefully making an impact in the First Team next summer.”
