New Zealander Test player Daryl Mitchell has been named in Lancashire Cricket’s 15-man squad to face Somerset in the LV= Insurance County Championship at Emirates Old Trafford starting tomorrow

Mitchell arrived in the UK on Tuesday, following the conclusion of New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan and the all-rounder goes straight into Glen Chapple’s squad for the match.

The 30-year-old will remain with the Red Rose until mid-July, a spell that includes County Championship matches against Hampshire, Surrey and Essex, in addition to the entirety of the Vitality Blast.

Mitchell’s addition is the only change to the squad that faced Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last week. Captain Keaton Jennings remains out due to a hamstring injury with Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt at the Indian Premier League.

Dane Vilas (c), James Anderson, Tom Bailey, George Balderson, George Bell (wk), Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Colin De Grandhomme, Tom Hartley, Rob Jones, Saqib Mahmood, Daryl Mitchell, Luke Wells, Will Williams, Luke Wood
